Maxwell Moya Wright is a musician, a producer, and a promoter. After studying Theatre and History of Theatre at the BRIT School of Performing Arts in London and later in Dartington College of Arts in Devon, UK, he decided to undertake his professional career in Barcelona since the year 2001, where he has been an integral part of several bands of national and international prestige.
For over 10 years, Maxwell toured the world attending some of the most prestigious festivals and legendary music venues (Glastonbury, Sydney Opera House, New York Central Park, Montreux, Womad, Roskilde, Lowlands, etc), as a permanent member of the music group Ojos de Brujo, with whom he won several awards: a Latin Grammy in 2008, a second nomination in 2011, a BBC Award in 2004, a Premios de la Música and two Premios Impala. He has also recorded in studio sessions for acclaimed music composer Nitin Sawhney and Barcelona-based bands like Nubla, 08001, Cajonmanía, The Fritzgeralds, and many more.
Other musical experience includes collaborating live with well-known bands such as Asian Dub Foundation and the Paris-Berlin duo Okou, as well as directing many musical workshops in Germany, Brazil, France, the UK, Spain and Bulgaria with music networks such as Roots’n’Routes, Aftershock, and Sonimar.
In recent years, Maxwell launched Royal Sonora (www.royalsonora.tv) and Royal Sonora Live (www.royalsonoralive.com), alongside his partners Gerónimo Balado and Amaranta Miralbell. Platforms that provide original musical content for advertising in TV and film and Live Events, respectively.
Maxwell just completed a Master in Music Business at Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain, where he co-founded the first ever TEDx event held by the institution, bringing together artists, entrepreneurs, designers, composers and dancers under the theme ‘Creative Catalyst.’
Currently, Maxwell is full-time Senior Coordinator of Professional Development at the International Career Center at Berklee College of Music, Valencia, Spain.
